Project FAST Charge: Fueling Athens' Sustainable Transportation

Athens-Clarke County is preparing a federal grant application for the Department of Transportation's Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program. ACC's application, Project FAST (Fueling Athens’ Sustainable Transportation) Charge, will install 58 new public electric vehicle chargers at 14 locations across Athens. From Downtown to Southeast Clarke Park to North Athens, Project FAST Charge will ensure easy access to charging for EV owners across the county. 

Proposed Chargers and Locations:

The project will install 38 Level 2 Chargers and 20 DC Fast Chargers. There is a map of proposed EV charger locations

ACC Sustainability is asking for support for Project FAST Charge from organizations and individuals throughout Athens-Clarke County. Advocates of the project are encouraged to write letters of support or use the sample letter linked here. The more letters ACC receives, the better chance Athens has of being awarded the grant. Supporters may also bolster efforts by gathering signatures (signatory document linked here). 

To add your vote of support to the grant, letters and signatures should be emailed to sustainability@accgov.com  by August 20, 2024. Please use the subject "Project FAST Charge Support" when sending your email.
