"Sasquatch Adventure" at Tallassee ForestWilling to hike off trail in search of cryptids? Evaluate evidence with an open mind and a good sense of humor? Interested in exploring a large tract of land in search of clues? Sign up for Sasquatch Adventure! This program, for ages 10 years and older, is set for Saturday, March 23 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fearlessly this group, led by highly trained government staff, will search for animal sign, evaluate habitat, experiment with calls and other techniques in search of Sasquatch. Wear clothes and shoes appropriate for hiking. Pack in water and a snack for this strenuous backwoods adventure. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Learn to Swim this Summer!The Leisure Services Department offers swim lessons for children three years and older at Heard Park, Lay Park, Memorial Park, and Rocksprings Park pools including “Swim School” and “Parent/Tot Swim School.” Each session fee is $33 for Athens-Clarke County residents and $50 for non-county residents. The Department’s Kinderswim program is a free initiative started with the goal of helping ACC children learn how to swim. The program is offered to all Athens-Clarke County 5-year-old children at no cost. The lessons are broken into three, 45-minute classes a week for three weeks, for a total of nine lessons, and are available at all of the Department pools, except Bishop Park, which is currently under construction.Online registration takes place at www.accgov.com/myrec . This free program is for ages 13 and older and is set for Saturday, March 30 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Sandy Creek Nature Center.

A New Poet LaureateMikhayla Robinson Smith is the new Athens-Clarke County Poet Laureate!
She is a poet, author, spoken word artist, and essayist, who has planted roots in Athens. She studied English at the University of Georgia, which allowed her to explore and deepen her understanding of poetics. Her love for poetry and community has driven her desire to make poetic literature more accessible to the people of Athens.
A committee, comprised of local poets, educators, librarians, and arts administrators, reviewed the applications based on the following criteria: excellence in craftsmanship, vision for the position, professional achievement in the field of poetry and a history of actively elevating the visibility of poetry in the community. The Poet Laureate position is a two-year term and all related events and programming will be free and open to the public.

Welcome Spring!The East Athens Educational Dance Center will present “Spring Dances” at the Morton Theatre on Sunday, March 24 at 3:00 p.m.
This showcase displays the talented, young dancers of the Dance Center's Winter/Spring eight-week programs and will feature the return of the Accelerated Program dancers performing crowd favorites from their recent annual production. This event highlights African, ballet, modern, tap, and contemporary dance. Expect inspiring choreography that will usher in springtime!
Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 on the day of the performance. Tickets may be purchased online.

Egg-stra Fun!Get ready to have some egg-citing fun this month! Memorial Park is hosting its annual Breakfast with the Bunny! on Saturday, March 30. There are two sessions of sit down breakfast, so come enjoy a prepared biscuit meal, make crafts, and meet the Easter Bunny! The two sessions will be 45 minutes, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. There are 40 spaces per session. Each individual (adults AND children) must register for this program. Children under the age of 1 are admitted free and are not required to register. Join Lay Park and the Athens-Clarke County Police Department on Saturday, March 23 for the annual Easter Egg Scramble an assortment of games, activities, and a chance to get a photo with the Easter Bunny!
The Heard Park Easter Egg Hunt is set for Saturday, March 23 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.. Come join us for a morning of crafts, activities, games, a bouncy house and an opportunity to take a picture with the Easter Bunny! Participants will be separated by age groups and each group will have a golden egg with a special prize hidden amongst the 100s of eggs that will be scattered around the park. Can you find the golden egg?

On Stage...Athens Creative Theatre (ACT) presents Oh, Kay! In Concert at the Morton Theatre Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Oh, Kay! is a 1926 romp, featuring the music and lyrics of American composer, George Gershwin, skewers the upper class in an uproarious Prohibition story of bootleggers, society matrons, and new love.
