Transit Service Expansion Pilot - Prince Ave. and North Ave.

Transit is proposing a service expansion to the local fixed-route network. A six-month pilot of the proposed route will take place along Prince Ave. and North Ave. and includes an increase in service area, operating hours, and frequency, all contingent on funding. The expansion is designed to enhance the current service and provide additional operating hours to existing routes.

Feedback will help shape the extent of the expansion, but the expectation is service every 30 minutes, M-F daytimes until approximately 7:00 PM. The pilot is scheduled to begin in January of 2023. All of this is contingent on sufficient funding and staffing to provide and maintain the service.

Prince Avenue 3-Lane Pilot Project

ACCGov will install a pilot project beginning in mid-September to change the locally-controlled area of Prince Avenue from a four-lane vehicle road with two vehicle lanes in each direction to a three-lane vehicle road with one vehicle lane in each direction, a center turning lane, two separated bike lanes, and other safety features. The pilot project will run for approximately a half mile from just east of North Milledge Avenue to Pulaski Street.

An interactive map is now available for the corridor that provides maps of the corridor; details and photos of the new features; before-and-after comparisons of sections of the roadway; project history; and other corridor information. Once the pilot is fully installed, a study period will begin and the story map will be updated with interactive elements to allow community feedback on the pilot project.
