tree

We Need a Tree!

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government's Landscape Management Division is currently seeking a privately-owned tree for donation to the Athens-Clarke County community as a public Christmas tree for display in front of City Hall during December.

The tree should be a cedar tree that is approximately 20 feet in diameter, approximately 35 feet tall, and symmetrical with a single trunk. The ideal candidate tree would be one that will need to be removed at some point in the future by the property owner due to its location, size, or another factor. Landscape Management will evaluate trees and handle tree removal and transportation at no cost to the owner.

Potential donors should contact Greg Shaw or Jonmichael Jones in the Landscape Management Division of the Central Services Department at 706-613-3561 or by email at greg.shaw@accgov.com or jonmichael.jones@accgov.com before November 23.

art

Have a Look!

The Lyndon House Arts Center hosts a new exhibition entitled A Pattern of Moments featuring works by Kate Burke, Rebecca Kreisler, and Sylvia Schaefer.  The exhibition is on display November 8, 2022  through March 4, 2023.

Using a variety of material: thread, folded paper, or quilted fabric, these three artists share a chosen color palette and a feminine sensibility.  Engaged in laborious tasks, each repeating a singular process multiple times in completing their pieces, Burk, Kreisler and Schaefer negotiate the qualities of paper, thread and quilt making.

Additional programming includes a workshop in folding paper with Rebecca Kreisler on the Third Thursday of November 17 at 6:00 p.m.  Please call 706-613-3623 for more information.

All exhibitions at the Lyndon House Arts Center are free of charge and open to the public.  Exhibitions are on view during regular gallery hours Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note during the fall, the Lyndon House Arts Center will be closed on home football game Saturdays.

For more information, please call 706-613-3623.
