Movies by Moonlight at Dudley ParkThe Leisure Services Department will host a free “Movies by Moonlight” outdoor movie on Saturday, August 13 at 8:30 p.m. at Dudley Park.The event features the 1997 Science Fiction film “The Fifth Element” and will be presented in the earthen amphitheater adjacent to the restroom building near the Firefly Trail.
Registration is not required. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and will sit on the ground to watch the film on the large inflatable screen. Food and beverages will not be sold or provided at the park. Restrooms and water fountains will be available until the end of the screening.
Patrons can ride bikes or walk to the viewing area which is accessible from the Firefly Trail and Greenway Trail. Parking can also be utilized at both Dudley Park parking lots; 286 South Poplar Street and 1170 East Broad Street.
All park rules will be enforced, including; dogs always on leash, no alcohol, no smoking, and no grills/cooking.

On Display...Lyndon House Arts Center presents Works by Margo Newmark Rosenbaum featured in two exhibits on view through October 7, 2022.Margo Newmark Rosenbaum has worked alongside her husband Art Rosenbaum, for over 50 years, using her camera to document his field recording sessions and other artistic endeavors. With a keen eye, she has captured intimate images of musicians, painters, collectors, and children. A selection of Margo’s photographs from her book, Drawing with Light will be on view in the North Gallery.All the while, Margo has maintained a strong painting practice. She first studied under the legendary Bay Area Figurative artists Richard Diebenkorn and Elmer Bischoff, earning a BFA in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute before continuing her studies in photography, earning her MA at the University of Iowa. With a courageous palette and brushwork reminiscent of the German Expressionists, Margo’s mostly figurative paintings include domestic scenes alive with real and imaginary animals.All exhibitions and programs are free of charge and open to the public. Exhibitions are on view during regular gallery hours Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Lyndon House Arts Center is closed on University of Georgia home football game days. Get in the Game!It's time to register for fall sports!Gymnastics classes are available for toddlers and youth. Tumbling classes are available for youth and teens. All classes take place at Bishop Park. Tennis programs registration is underway. Instruction is designed for beginners and intermediates. The season is August 22-November 10. The youth soccer program is available for ages 5-12. The program is designed for players to learn, develop, and apply fundamental skills. The season is September 6 – October 25. The Department introduces a new program After School Skate for ages 8-14 with beginner to intermediate skill level. This activity takes place Wednesdays or Thursdays, September 5 – October 13 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Skate Park at Southeast Clarke Park. The Arts are Calling!Online registration continues for fall arts programming!The East Athens Educational Dance Center's dance program selection includes a variety of disciplines such as ballet, hip hop, modern, and tap. New classes for toddlers are available along with two new lunch time classes for adults. All classes begin in September. C omplete dance descriptions are available online. These classes are centered around developing the skills of developing performing artists of all ages and skill levels in the theatrical arts. Online registration continues for Acting 101 - Beginning Acting for Youth and Monologues and More which is a four-week course for teens and adults with cognitive disabilities.
