Make a Splash!All Department pools open Saturday, May 28 for the season. Memorial Day pool hours are 1:00 – 5:30 p.m. Pools close for the season Sunday, July 31.Leisure Services operates five public pools including Bishop Park, 705 Sunset Drive; Heard Park (formerly East Athens Community Center), 400 McKinley Drive; Lay Park, 297 Hoyt Street; Memorial Park, 293 Gran Ellen Drive; and Rocksprings Park, 291 Henderson Extension. During the aquatics season, pools are open Tuesday-Friday and Sundays, 1:00 – 5:30 p.m. Pool hours are noon – 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The Bishop Park pool is open to the public on weekends, only. All pools are closed on Mondays for maintenance.
Pool and splash pad admission is $1 per person. Pool passes are available for purchase and may be used at both splash pads and at all of the Department’s five public pools. Individual pool passes are $20 and Family of Four pool passes are $40. Passes may be purchased at each pool. Cash and check are accepted. Snake DayThe Department will host Snake Day on Saturday, May 21 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Want to learn more about snakes? Then slither out to the annual Snake Day where experts will be on hand to answer questions and fascinate you with snake facts.
Activities will include animal interaction, crafts, and games.
This program is for families with a $5 admission fee per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tell Us What You Think!The sessions are planned for: Tuesday, May 24 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 29 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.
All sessions will take place at the Bishop Park pool at 705 Sunset Drive.
Residents will have the opportunity to drop in, meet with staff, and offer input regarding the proposed schematic design for the Bishop Park pool.

Holiday HoursThe Department's parks will operate under regular hours of operation on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. Facilities will be closed.
All pools and the Rocksprings Park Splash Pad will be open on Memorial Day from 1:00 – 5:30 p.m. Walker Park Splash Pad will be open 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. There is a $1 admission fee to all pools and splash pads.
All parks and facilities will reopen Tuesday, May 31 under regular hours of operation.

Movies by Moonlight - JawsThe Department will host a free “Movies by Moonlight” outdoor movie on Saturday, June 4 at 9:15 p.m. at Sandy Creek Park. Moviegoers may arrive starting at 8:30 p.m. The event features the 1970s classic “Jaws."
Registration is not required. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and will sit on the grass to watch the film on the large inflatable screen.
Upon arrival, patrons will be directed to the movie viewing area. The public should bring their own refreshments. Food and beverages will not be sold or provided at the park. Restrooms will be available.
All park rules will be enforced, including dogs always on leash, no alcohol, smoking, or grills. Sandy Creek Park is located at 400 Bob Holman Road.

Show Us Your Good Grades!The Report Card Rewards Program celebrates Athens-Clarke County students with good grades with pool passes! In order to be eligible, students, Kindergarten through 12th grade, who reside in Athens-Clarke County must take a copy of their final report card of the year or equivalent to the park office where a swimming pool is located. A report card with all A's or all E's guarantees a free summer pool pass. A report card with all A's and B's, or all E's and M's, is good for 10 free swims. Teens and SummerGrand Slam summer program for teens returns in June! “Grand Slam” is a special summertime program for individuals aged 11-17 who reside in Athens-Clarke County. This program takes place Friday evenings in June and July from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Lay Park located at 297 Hoyt Street.
Evenings include games, giveaways, guest speakers, life enrichment activities, music, refreshments, sports, and more.
The program is free of charge, however online registration is required.

Summer Jobs! Apply Today!The Department is hiring 120 summer positions. Applications are currently being accepted for summer positions with camps and aquatics.
Pay begins at $15 an hour. Mid-summer bonuses, dependent on position, range from $200 - $400.

Summer Camp Fun!The Leisure Services Department continues summer camp registration. The Department offers the most diverse selection of award winning summer camps in Northeast Georgia including day camps and mini camps highlighting art, dance, nature education, sports, and theatre.
