Kinderswim

Kinderswim -
Free Learn to Swim Program

Kinderswim is exclusively for five year old children who live in Athens-Clarke County.  This special learn to swim program is offered at no cost, however online registration is required.

The Kinderswim program is a free initiative started with the goal of helping Athens-Clarke County children learn how to swim. Space is limited.

The lessons are broken into three, 45-minute classes a week for three weeks, for a total of nine lessons, and are available at all department pools.

Gone Fishing!

Come out and enjoy family fishing at Claypit Pond at Sandy Creek Nature Center!

We provide bait and cane fishing poles. Registration required one day in advance.  This program is planned for Saturday, April 23 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.  Online registration is required.

This program is for ages 5 and older.  Children younger than 13 must be accompanied by an adult.  The fee is $2 for ACC residents and $3 for non-residents.

The Department is hiring 120 summer positions. Applications are currently being accepted for summer positions with camps and aquatics.

Pay begins at $15 an hour.  Mid-summer bonuses, dependent on position, range from $200 - $400.

Pancakes and Turtles

Join a naturalist for Pancakes and Turtles that includes a light pancake brunch while hanging out with turtles at Sandy Creek Nature Center.

Participants will get to see and interact with turtles, learn cool turtle facts, and meet our new resident pancake tortoise!

This program, scheduled for Saturday, April 30 from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m., is for ages three and older.  Children younger than 13 must be accompanied by an adult.  The fee is $5 for ACC residents and $7.50 for non-residents. All participants must register online.

Hey Tweens!

Calling all middle schoolers! Too young for teen programs but too old for school age programs? We have the place for you!

Come join us for a night of activities to include technology, STEM projects, games, and more! It’s a great opportunity to have fun, build community, and show your parents you can be independent. 

Tweens after Dark, takes place Thursday, April 28, from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at Rocksprings Park. This program is for ages 11-14 and is free of charge.  Online registration is required.

Make a Splash!

The Walker Park (formerly Trail Creek Park) splash pad will open for its pre-season hours on Saturday, May 7 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

The Walker Park Splash Pad, located at 200 Trail Creek St, will be open weekends only, Saturday, May 7 - Sunday, May 22.  The splash pad will operate under regular seasonal hours from Saturday, May 28 - Sunday, July 31 and then open weekends only, August 6 - September 5.  Splash pad hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.  The splash pad is closed on Mondays for maintenance.

The Rocksprings Park Splash Pad, located at 291 Henderson Ext, will open for the season May 28.

Splash pad admission is $1 per person.  Pool passes are available for purchase and may be used at both splash pads and at all of the Department’s five public pools.  Individual pool passes are $20 and Family of Four pool passes are $40.  Passes may be purchased onsite with forms of payment accepted including cash and check.

Summer Camp Fun!

The Leisure Services Department continues summer camp registration. The Department offers the most diverse selection of award winning summer camps in Northeast Georgia including day camps and mini camps highlighting art, dance, nature education, sports, and theatre. 

Opportunities are available for children and teens.
