Fare Free Transit extended to June 30, 2022

Fare Free Transit for Everybody through June 30, 2022.

The ACC Mayor and Commission approved the FY22 budget which included fare free public transit for everyone. This is a continuation of free free transit which was initially made possible due to support from the CARES Act. ACC Transit has not charged fares in 2021.

Interim Director, Patricia Hale had this comment: “Athens Transit is honored by demonstration of love for all citizens of Athens Clarke County Government by our Mayor and Commission. Athens Clarke County Transit proudly announces Fare Free service is extended for another year.

ACC Transit continues to require face coverings for all riders, disinfects buses frequently and has upgraded the filtration system throughout their fleet. Air exchange is further enhanced due to the frequent opening of doors for passenger entry and exit. Hand sanitizer is available on all buses and face masks will be provided as needed.

Routes, timetables, live bus tracking and trip planning are available at accgov.com/transit and through the myStop app.
