District Attorney Runoff Election Remains on Dec. 1 with Statewide & Federal Runoff on Jan. 5, 2021

The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office has notified the Athens-Clarke County Elections Office that the Western Judicial Circuit District Attorney Special Election runoff scheduled for December 1, 2020 will remain on that date as scheduled.

The statewide runoff election for the Georgia Public Service Commission District 4 seat scheduled for December 1, 2020 was moved to January 5, 2021 to coincide with the runoff election for both of Georgia's United States Senate seats. However, the Georgia Secretary of State has determined that the local Special Election runoff must proceed on December 1, 2020 as set by the state in August when the District Attorney election dates were announced.

Voters registered in Athens-Clarke County and Oconee County will only vote for the District Attorney position in the December 1, 2020 Special Election runoff and will vote for the United State Senate and Georgia Public Service Commission seats in the January 5, 2021 runoff election.

More information will be announced about advance voting dates and locations, voter registration change deadlines, logic and accuracy testing of voting equipment, absentee ballot requests, and other details related to both elections.
