For Immediate Release UPDATE – October 31, 2019 - Oconee Street Suspect Faces Additional Charges
This morning, Jose Antonio Ramirez was formally charged in connection to an incident that occurred in an apartment residence on the 300 block of Oconee Street on October 26th . Ramirez, 30 years-of-age, is homeless and does not have a local address.
In the October 26th incident, Ramirez followed a 23-year-old female from the downtown area into her residence. Once inside, Ramirez threatened the female. A roommate called 9-1-1 and ACCPD responded. Ramirez fled the scene and was not be located by responding officers.
On October 28th , information led ACCPD to 4375 Lexington Road. Officers located Ramirez in a parking lot and recovered evidence that linked him to the October 26th incident. Ramirez was arrested and transported to the Clarke County Jail.
After further investigation, detectives charged Ramirez with Robbery, False Imprisonment, Battery, Burglary, and Criminal Intent to Commit Rape.
