On January 16 th at approximately 12:38 am, ACCPD responded to an Entering Auto at 295 Dougherty Street. ACCPD met with the security officer who witnessed a suspect pulling on vehicle door handles. The security officer began questioning the suspect, later identified as Joseph Calvert-Fowler, 22 years-old of Athens. After a brief discussion with the security officer, the suspect fled the property.
ACCPD met with an Entering Auto victim at the same address who stated that his vehicle had a broken rear window. The victim also stated that some change, miscellaneous items and a dark hoodie were missing from his vehicle. ACCPD searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
Later that morning at approximately 2:10 am, ACCPD responded to a burglary alarm at 115 North Avenue. The front glass door of the business was broken. ACCPD searched the area and located a suspect with numerous items from the business. The suspect was detained.
The security officer from the earlier Entering Auto incident was brought to
this scene and positively identified the suspect. Joseph Calvert-Fowler was
arrested for Criminal Damage to Property, Entering Auto and Burglary.
