UPDATE February 13, 2019
Today, ACCPD detectives announced the motive in the February 2nd Homicide of
Ramonte Harris. Detectives believe the incident began with a dispute between
Harris and Early. The dispute was related to a drug sale. As the dispute escalated,
Early pulled a handgun and shot Harris.
February 3, 2019
On February 2, 2019 at approximately 5:00 pm, ACCPD responded to a
Shooting on Sycamore Drive. Upon arrival, witnesses stated that the shooting
victim was being transported by a private vehicle to a local hospital. Witnesses
provided a description of a vehicle leaving the scene.
ACCPD searched the area and located a suspect matching witness
descriptions at a shopping center on 196 Alps Road. The suspect, Darrall Early, 21-
year-old from Athens, was transported to ACCPD for questioning.
The victim, 24-year-old Ramonte Harris, died at a local hospital. Early was
charged with Murder and transported to the Clarke County Jail.
