Earlier this morning, ACCPD was notified by the Clarke County School District (CCSD) of a weapon threat that occurred at Hilsman Middle School. CCSD received information that an unidentified student had a weapon on school grounds on August 21, 2019.
In conjunction with the CCSD, ACCPD provided additional security at the school this morning. ACCPD investigated the claim and found no validity to the report of a weapon on school grounds. No charges were filed.
ACCPD and the CCSD take the security of school children and employees seriously and
encourage families to discuss the dangers of weapons in schools. Please remind your children
to report any weapons or threats to an adult immediately.
