The Lyndon House Arts Center is pleased to announce the opening of Legendary Georgia Musicians in Watercolor featuring works by Jackie Dorsey, on June 8, 2023. This exhibition is on view through September 1, 2023. The reception is Thursday, June 8, 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Jackie Dorsey is an Athens based artist, who has been working on an exhibition of watercolor paintings of Legendary Georgia Musicians since 2017, with the purpose of honoring and recognizing the legacies of Georgia based musicians and celebrating Georgia music. The artist immersed herself in this project for 5 years. With one exception, all of the musicians featured did personal shoots with the artist either at a venue, the artist’s home, or at the musician’s home or studio. Some portraits on view will include Big Boi of Outkast, Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls, Mike Mills of R.E.M, Vanessa Briscoe Hay of Pylon, Mike Cooley of Drive-By Truckers and many others.
“I am moved by the vibrant art and music scene in Georgia which has inspired me to create this exhibition of Legendary Georgia Musicians.” – Jackie Dorsey
