"The Local Athenian - One Degree of Separation" Exhibition at Lyndon House Arts Center
Saturday, April 2, 2022
The Lyndon House Arts Center announces the new exhibit, Local Athenian – One Degree of Separation opening April 2, 2022 and on view through June 18, 2022.
Since November 2020, Emily Cameron has been sharing portraits of local residents on her website The Local Athenian. Through interviews and photographs, Cameron reveals insights into the lives of community members that reach far beyond the surface. As a photographer, she is documenting the people and the place. As an activist, Cameron is celebrating an inclusive community and connecting disparate lives. This photography exhibition provides opportunity to see many faces and portraits in the Art Center’s Lukasiewicz Gallery. A welcome experience at a time when so many of us have felt isolated and separated.
Emily Cameron is an eight-year resident of Athens and a lover of people and stories. She created The Local Athenian with the desire to dig deep into the roots that allow this community to flourish. The conversations and stories she shares expand readers’ understanding of and appreciation for the town. Emily says “this is my way of giving back to a community that has always provided an avenue for creative expression in whomever seeks it.”
All exhibitions are free of charge and open to the public. Exhibitions are on view during regular gallery hours Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
