Athens Together Exhibition at Lyndon House Arts Center

The Lyndon House Arts Center announces Athens Together, an exhibition of documentary photography of local rallies featuring the work of Penny Noah, Nathaniel Burkins, Sean Dunn and Lucy Calhoun. This special exhibition is on display from February 13 – April 10, 2021.
Athens-Clarke County, with the nation and world, has seen many call to action efforts in the form of activism, outreach, protests, and rallies. These past 12 months has been loud with voices demanding justice for Black Lives, health care for all, education, women’s rights, and democracy.
Here in Athens, these artists have captured a bit of our history during a year of strong advocacy, inspired voices and leaders, protest signs and many gatherings through the lens of a camera.
Penny Noah is a photographer and visual artist, with an undergraduate degree in Art Education, and a Masters and PhD in Educational Technology. Nathaniel Burkins photographed New York and Chicago in the '90s before relocating to Athens to raise a family. His photographs are in many collections, including the collection of the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Lucy Calhoun studied photography at Louisiana Tech University before relocating to Athens in the 1990s. She now travels between Athens and New Mexico. Sean Dunn is a photographer and musician originally from New Orleans and currently based in Athens.
This exhibition is on display February 13 - April 10. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All exhibits are free of charge and open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Face masks are required. All CDC guidelines are in place including social distancing.
