"Mind the Body Works by Victoria Dugger" Exhibition at Lyndon House Arts Center

Friday, January 22, 2021

The Lounge Gallery at the Lyndon House Arts Center, features quarterly solo exhibitions by emerging artists. Artists in the beginning stages of their careers exhibit wall-bound works in media alternating from drawing to painting to photography to printmaking. The Lyndon House Arts Center is pleased to announce "Mind the Body, works by Victoria Dugger."  This exhibition is curated by Lilly McEachern.

“Mind the Body is about embracing our collective mortality instead of burrowing into our ego. Despite our desire to be fully immersed in an immaterial world, we cannot escape our own humanity.” – Lilly McEachern

Victoria Dugger’s work is an investigation of herself – and of you, too. Her work often explores the dynamic relationship between ourselves, our body, and the world around us.  Dugger draws inspiration from art history and contemporary culture. In Watchin’ You, she reinterprets Édouard Manet’s Olympia by replacing the nude figure with a disorienting mass of body parts and the domestic worker with a rendition of an original portrait, BabyDoll. The figure in BabyDoll looks directly at the viewer, reorganizing the voyeurism of Manet’s painting.

"Mind the Body Works by Victoria Dugger" is on view in the Lounge Gallery at the Lyndon House Arts Center from January 22  – April 3, 2021.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  All exhibits are open to the public and are free of charge.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
