A project team of the Athens Housing Authority, JHP Architecture / Urban Design, Columbia Residential, and Jonathan Rose Corporation is sketching out ideas with residents for the redevelopment of North Downtown Athens / Bethel Homes. Funding in part will come from $39 million designed as part of the voter-approved SPLOST 2020 Project #2 - Affordable Housing Project.

As part of the planning process for the redevelopment of North Downtown Athens / Bethel Midtown Village, a series of online Virtual Planning Workshops will take place August 13-15 with the project team through a series of Zoom calls on topics ranging from sustainability to street networks to transit.

The project team will present some thoughts, solicit feedback from participants, and maybe do some sketching in real time. Join one that interests you, or join them all.
Exploring the Civic Parcels-North Downtown/ Bethel Redevelopment Workshop Session 3: The team and the community will brainstorm future uses for ACCGov-owned land within the planning area. When the Planning Department moves, what is the future of the Planning Auditorium on Dougherty? How can the energy of downtown Athens expand into the North Downtown area?
