2020 Athens MLK Day of Service
Monday, January 20, 2020
Athenians are invited to honor Dr. King's legacy at the 18th Annual Athens-Clarke County Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 20, 2020. Several community organizations will be hosting volunteer service projects for the Day of Service, including Acceptance Recovery Center, Athens Land Trust, Books for Keeps, Brooklyn Cemetery, the Food Bank of NE Georgia, Historic Athens/Hands On Athens, SORBA, and more! This year’s kick-off celebration will take place from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Clarke Central High School gymnasium. The first 300 registered volunteers will receive free t-shirts, and a light breakfast will be served. Participants will hear from several speakers before heading out to their work sites around 9:30 a.m. Volunteers will then work from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. at their project sites. Volunteer registration will open in mid-December, and those interested in participating can find the registration link online at www.accgov.com/mlkday.
