The mission of Studio Painters is to support and cultivate all forms of “painting with passion” by sharing ideas, supporting each artist’s personal vision, offering constructive criticism, and providing a regular opportunity for creative growth. Our members have participated in Lyndon House Art Center community-based events and donated art materials to the Lyndon House Arts Center children’s art programs. Members come from the Athens community – both old and new - and enrich our group experience in so many ways.
Our group embraces artists across the painting disciplines, including watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels and pen/ink drawing – we encourage anyone with a love of any of the painting media to join us. Our artists work at all levels of experience and technique – which means that it is easy to get advice and information in a low stress setting. While some of our artists are award-winners and have been juried into exhibitions, all our artists are active learners – using classes, demos, workshops, books, etc. to become better painters because they are passionate about what they do and love to paint.
The Studio Painters meet weekly on Thursdays, 12:30—3:30pm, in the Lyndon House painting studio (August—May). Everyone is welcome – just bring your enthusiasm and an interest in painting!
