As you know, the Arts Center is closed until further notice. However, we have an incredible Juried Show to share. We are moving the 45th online. Each day (see menu to the left) in the morning hours we will post a new work on display in the galleries with a short story.
Hi I’m Rusty Wallace @rwallaceart and I love how art can expand your ways of seeing and knowing the world, and yourself. In my piece“Dialogues (T.M.O.R.A.S.)” (gouache on Lanaquarelle in artist-made gilded frame) I pay homage to one of my favorite Frank Stella Black Paintings from 1959 – “The Marriage of Reason and Squalor” - by re-presenting it in gold and black gouache to symbolize dualities of spiritual and political power. In “Hey Hey, My My (Where Is The Power)”(Acrylite GP, Aluminum, Wood, Neon) the sculpture presents the defined opaque, reflective white oval shape opposed by the bright yellow neon light, which has no edge - both symbolize types of light and ways of knowing (the more you look, the more you see). I love living and working in our Athens community, with its rich creative heritage.
