Sheriff's Academy

The Sheriff's Academy program includes an in-depth hands-on experience of the day-to-day operations of the four divisions of the Sheriff’s Office, which are the Administrative, Court Services, Field Operations, and Jail Operations. Classes will be held at the Training Center located at 2900 County Farm Road, Athens, GA. 30605.

This program aims to familiarize our community with our agency and outstanding staff while being part of the day-to-day operations of all divisions. Participants will be given an inside look at the Clarke County Courthouse and Jail operations and an overview of the responsibilities of a Clarke County Deputy. Classes will meet once a week for 5 weeks. The Sheriff’s Academy is FREE of charge, and meals will be provided at each session.

Upon successful completion of the Sheriff’s Academy, each graduate will:

  1. Gain a better understanding of how the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office is organized and how each unit functions. As well as achieve an appreciation of the daily challenges facing today’s Law Enforcement Professionals
  2. Increase the support to our Sheriff’s Office, by giving other residents an understanding of the roles of each member of the Sheriff’s Office.
  3. Hopefully the desire to recruit potential candidates for employment, as well as future participants, in the Sheriff's Academy.

The goal of the Sheriff’s Academy

The goal of the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office Academy is to create and develop a group of responsible, well-informed residents who will have the potential to improve and build a long-lasting and productive partnership between our agency and the community we so proudly serve.

The 2023 Sheriff's Academy is now in session and will end on January 24, 2024.
