A series of workshops were led by consultant group The Jaeger Company to focus on different types of corridor types and related character areas identified on the Future Development Map. Each workshop addressed two different geographic areas of the same corridor or development type with the goal of developing recommendations applicable to other similar areas throughout the county.
The specific goals of the workshops were to analyze and evaluate each of the areas to identify:
Appropriate future land uses
Appropriate new and infill design
Planning strategies to achieve the recommended use and design scenarios
The workshops were held at the University of Georgia School of Environmental Design studios on Broad Street in downtown Athens. The workshop format was interactive and designed to encourage public participation. Read the final report.
