Active Shooter

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department recommends the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT)™ Program at Texas State University (www.alerrt.org) strategy of Avoid | Deny | Defend™ for instances where you may find yourself in a situation with an active threat.

Many citizens have asked what individuals can do protect themselves and reduce the dangers faced during one of these events.

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid | Deny | Defend™ provides strategies and guidance for surviving such an event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.

Stay tuned for ACCPD's next C.R.A.S.E. course
