Water Conservation Office
Athens-Clarke County hopes to increase the life span of its water system facilities beyond 2050 with an aggressive Water Conservation Program. This effort can help control costs and minimize rate increases as our community continues to grow and change.

Water System Efficiency
The Athens-Clarke County Public Utilities Department is working hard to save water before it reaches our customers. We work every day to improve the efficiency of our system to keep operating costs down and preserve our precious water resource.
Outreach and Education
The Water Conservation Office plans and implements a variety of programs to educate citizens and promote water conservation efforts. In 2016 the Water Conservation Office reached almost 9,000 children and adults through family events, school visits, teacher workshops, water treatment plant tours and onsite water conservation programs. For these efforts, the Georgia Association of Water Professionals named the ACC WCO a 2017 Education Program of Excellence in Water Supply & Water Conservation. They were also named as one of seven 2016 EPA WaterSense Partners of the Year.
