Managing Trees in the Community

Community forestry requires us to change our management perspective from working with individual trees on individual properties to working with large-scale forests within urban and suburban areas. Community forests are found in river corridors, rural neighborhoods, abandoned lots, green spaces, parks, and anywhere else where large numbers of trees can be found.

Many community forest management strategies focus on managing wildlife corridors, environmental buffers, species composition, and pest management. The simple actions of individual people can play an important role in maintaining a safe and healthy community forest. The page should provide you with information and materials needed to make a positive impact on community forest management.
