If you see a snake, don't attempt to kill it. Venomous ones may strike, and it's illegal to kill non-venomous ones in Georgia.
There are only three kinds of venomous snakes in the area: canebrake rattlesnakes (also called timber rattlesnakes), pygmy rattlesnakes and copperheads. These are usually easy to identify. If you see one in a neighborhood or by your house, call Animal Control at 706-613-3540 to remove it. After hours (between 6pm and 8am M-F and all day Sa and Sun), call 911.
The majority of snakes are harmless. If you see a snake outside, stay clear and let it move away naturally. If it is inside a residential structure, contact Animal Control at 706-613-3540 to remove it.
