Project 19: Bicycle Transportation

This project planned, designed, and constructed a comprehensive bicycle route system by utilizing existing roadways and constructing new bicycle-friendly bridges in Athens-Clarke County. It has connected principal attractions with residential areas through a series of on-street, interconnected routes. The new routes allow for safe and efficient travel of bicycles with particular focus on the area within a two-mile radius surrounding the University of Georgia and the downtown area. The project included installing necessary bicycle route signage and the analysis, design, and construction of the river crossings at the Atlanta Highway and College Station Road bridges.
