What happens at the Athens Water Festival?

Water organizations come together to make water sparkle! Touch sea life, become a water drop, or create a water delivery system. ACC Public Utilities Dept: Play "Toilet Toss Trivia", battle the through the FOG, and learn how we clean both your drinking water and dirty water everyday ACC Stormwater: Sewer Heroes travel the maze a water drop must battle through before arriving at the source
ACC Leisure Services: Prepare to get wet as you Fight the Grease Menace & Wipes Monster or swim in Lake Chapman. Canoes available for small fee
Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful: Our gutters lead straight to the river.  Help keep them clean!
UGA Marine Sciences: Get up close & personal with creatures from the Georgia coast.
ACC Recycling: No Sewer Hero is complete without a cape.  Join us as we transform recycled t-shirts into capes
ACC Cooperative Extension & Master Gardeners: Make a pot out of newspaper & plant a seed inside. Remember to water! UGA Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resource: Meet some animals who remind us of water's importance to all life
Upper Oconee Watershed Network:  Macroinvertebrates call our local streams home.  UOWN brings a few along to join us in the festival fun. 
State Botanical Gardens of GA: Water is essential to growing a garden that attracts wildlife. UGA Bug Dawgs:  Did you know bugs need water, too?  Visit with live insects & arthropod Sandy Creek Nature Center: Everybody poops!  We flush it down the toilet.  Discover what animals do with their waste.
ECOGOG:  Explore the Ocean Discovery Zone using a model ROV, build a sea coral, or learn about tube worms. UGA EcoReach  Discover the Amazing Underwater Tape of the Caddisfly, a true superhero of the steam.
Waterhshed UGA & Meet our aquatic swimming mates...the macroinvertebrates! Find out how they keep our water clean.
UGAquaponics:  Learn about aquaponics and how it can be used to grow life. UGA Water Resource Team: To flush or not to flush, that is the question.  Test your flushing knowledge.
Bag the Bag UGA: Plastic bags wreak havoc in our water. Recycle a t-shirt into a bag and bring it the next time you go shopping. 
Public Utilities & Transportation and Public Works: Splash in the spray and explore the trucks needed to take care of our water in ACC
UGA Environmental Health Science Club:  Test your eyesight as you hunt for microbes in the water. .AND MORE: Create a Sewer Hero costume, play with Athens Area Humane Society puppies, pick up some goodies, and more!

You don't have to tell the kids, but we splash learning into all of this fun. Most water festival activities meet the Georgia Performance Standards in science.
