Lyndon House Arts Center Announces Juror for the 48th Juried Exhibition

The Lyndon House Arts Center and Lyndon House Arts Foundation are pleased to announce Maria Elena Ortiz, Curator at The Modern in Fort Worth Texas, as the Guest Juror for the 48h Juried Exhibition.

María Elena Ortiz is new to The Modern in Fort Worth having recently been a curator at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). At PAMM she curated several exhibitions including Allied with Power: African and African diaspora art from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection, The Other Side of Now: Foresight in Caribbean Art, Teresita Fernández: Elemental, American Echo Chamber: José Carlos Martinat,  william cordova: now’s the time, Beatriz Santiago Muñoz: A Universe of Fragile Mirrors, among others. Her exhibitions have traveled to prestigious institutions including the Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh; El Museo de Barrio, New York; and the DePaul Art Museum, Chicago. At PAMM, she founded and spearheaded the Caribbean Cultural Institute (CCI)—a curatorial platform dedicated to Caribbean art.  Formerly, Ortiz was curator of contemporary arts at the Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros in Mexico City. Along with her catalog contributions, she has contributed to writing platforms such as the Davidoff Art Initiative, Fluent Collaborative, Curating Now, and Terremoto Magazine. In 2014 she was awarded the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) and Independent Curators International (ICI) Travel Award for Central America and the Caribbean, and she received the Emerging Curator Award from the Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, California, in 2012.

As was last year, artist submissions for the 48h Juried Exhibition will be received online only. The call for art submissions will be live from January 4, 2023 at 10 am, through January 20, 2022 at 5:00 pm.  Please look for further information and instructions on our website and social media. The 48th Juried Exhibition is scheduled to open in the galleries on March 2, 2023.
